10 Steps to Mailing a Box
Ten steps to mailing a box of stuff that you have decided is too heavy to continue schlepping around: (At least this is how I did it)
1) Spend a good 30 minutes searching through the Post Office's website to figure out the elusive sizes of boxes included in Priority Mail flat rates.
2) Measure out your pile of stuff to see if it will fit in the box.
3) Remove a few items to make the pile fit. Then remove a few more. Then measure again and remove even more. At some point your high hopes for lightening your pack will be beaten down. Unless of course you want to spend a fortune mailing multiple boxes. Not in my budget.
4) Pile everything into a tote and find a ride to the post office.
5) At the post office, find the free box, then realize that you didn't bring tape and this post office is not open on Saturdays.
6) Head outside and ask the nearest pedestrian where you can find a roll of packing tape in the downtown area of a large city at 8:30 on a Saturday morning.
7) Walk a few blocks to the drug store the pedestrian pointed you toward.
8) Buy a whole roll of tape when you only need about 6 feet.
9) Back at the post office, use the electronic postage/label purchasing machine.
10) Mail the box with a deep sigh of relief. At least your pack will be a little lighter!
Success!! I guess
